Saturday and Sunday we stayed home, visited with Uncle Matt, Jill, Uncle Kerry and Aunt Marie. Monday, we visited with my friend from high school and her little girl. Tuesday was our big day. We went to the American Girl Store, lunch at ChickfilA, and then the Field Museum.
Malloy took "Julie" with her to the store.
We ran into some contestants from the Miss International Pageant
Maisey says the buildings are so tall!
Gotta love Chickfila. When the hostess saw Malloy and her doll, she offered a high chair for Julie that clamps onto the table.
Gardner was so happy!
Maisey was so hungry. She ate her nuggets and then some of Grandma's sandwich too!
The crew getting ready to hit the streets of Chicago.
Next, we headed on the the Field Museum. Malloy wanted to see some dinosaur bones. Where else can you see "Sue" the T. Rex? We also got a very thorough lesson on the mummification process. They had a stuffed animal type of person and we got to remove the brains and other organs, pack the body with salt, paint it with shellac, and wrap it with linens. Checking out the taxidermy animals and the Pawnee Indian tent were other highlights of our day.
Kyle was told several times that Gardner was a very pretty little girl. I forget that they don't dress boys the same up North!
After a busy day, Malloy and Julie changed into their matching pajamas.
Wednesday, Kyle and I ran to some stores that we don't have in Shreveport and that evening we visited with more friends. Thursday, Malloy and I met up with my childhood friend Jenny and her five year old son, Evan. Malloy and Evan hit it off pretty quickly although they were a little confused about each other's names. Malloy kept calling him Devon and he called her Illinois! They do rhyme.
In the afternoon, Kyle, Malloy and I hit the road for a little side trip to Milwaukee. We checked out Discovery Center and then a Brewer's game.

Moll, you have become a true Southerner! I never would have mistaken Gardner for a girl, and his clothes are adorable!
