I love to stand!!

Now that Malloy has figured out how to stand, she wants to be up on her feet all the time. No matter how tired she is, when I lay her down in her crib she immediately rolls over to the railing and pulls herself up. She reaches down for her blanket and gets the fingers in her mouth (that is the sign that she is definitely ready for a nap!), but she just won't lie down! When she eventually succumbs to the exhaustion, she sits down and falls asleep sitting up. It is the craziest thing I have ever seen and it looks quite uncomfortable. I usually wait until I am sure she is soundly sleeping and then gently lay her on her side.

The most uncomfortable sleeping position I have ever seen!

Standing & Crawling

Malloy is on the move. She's up, she's down, and now she's across the room. Last week she started standing up in her crib. She's been looking like she was about to crawl for the last few weeks, but has never actually gone anywhere. Today I was putting some clothes away in her closet and she was playing with toys at the other end of her room. She gradually got closer and closer to me and when I stopped to watch her she was actually crawling. I shot this video of her moving from one end of her room to the other. She is not a very graceful crawler yet!

Cat Napping

Malloy and the cats enjoyed a mid-morning cat nap together.

Cleo had taken over the bouncy seat now that Malloy has outgrown it.

Independence Bowl

I forgot to put up a post about Malloy's first ever college bowl game experience. The Alabama Crimson Tide defeated the Colorado Buffaloes in the Independence Bowl on Dec. 30 in Shreveport. The night before the game, we attended the "Battle of the Bands". She is pictured below with her Dad listening to the bands.

Ralphie the Buffalo took part in the Battle of the Bands parade.

Malloy was toted around the stadium in the Baby Bjorn.

Ralphie made his debut at Independence Stadium.

Malloy was really more interested in chewing on her toy than in watching the game. We only lasted through the end of the first quarter and then we headed home.

Birthday Party

Malloy attended a birthday party for her friends Sanders and Hannah. They were both turning 2 years old. She had a great time seeing all of her friends and even got to go on a pony ride!
The party got off to a slow start for Malloy and a few of the other babies.
The 2:00 start time coincided with Malloy's afternoon nap.

Malloy enjoyed her first pony ride.

She refrained from touching the animals, but was interesting in watching Daddy pet the goat.

Swimming

It took Malloy a few minutes to get warmed up to the idea of splashing around in the pool, but eventually she was having a blast. She wore herself out so much that she took a two hour nap in her stroller after her swim. Swimming lessons are definitely on our list of things to do this winter/spring. Check out her friend, Emma Papini's blog, for pictures of Emma swimming. Pretty amazing!!

Orlando

Malloy is playing with her two of her new favorite toys - an alligator xylophone and Grandma's old cell phone.
Malloy really enjoyed taking a bath in the kitchen sink.

We just got back from a quick trip to Orlando. Grandma and Grandpa Whalen were there on vacation so we decided to join them. Malloy had fun being spoiled and she enjoyed the warm weather.
