Daisy, Maisey, and Lazy

Malloy likes to look at an app on my iPad that reads you a new story every day. One day, I thought I overheard it saying "Maisey", but I was sure I had to be mistaken. Sure enough, the story of the day was about three naughty kittens name Daisy, Maisey and Lazy.

I was so surprised that they spelled Maisey the same way we do! I had a really hard time deciding between Maisy, Maisey and Maisie. I thought it was an unusual enough name that I didn't need to complicate matters with a funny spelling. There isn't really one "normal" way to spell it. Some people try to pronounce it like "Macy" so I usually try to tell them that it rhymes with daisy or lazy - just like the kittens in the book.

Malloy decided to dress up her little sister as a princess. I have a feeling there will be lots of dressing up in the years to come.

The babies looked so peaceful while they were napping. I couldn't resist taking a picture!

Happy Easter!

We had a whole week of Easter festivities. Last Saturday, we went to the Junior League egg hunt. This was one of my first solo outings with all three kids. I was under pressure to actually get there on time - if we were late, all of the eggs would be gone!

On Wednesday, Malloy had an Easter Parade at school. Dearie helped her make this lovely hat. The children paraded around the courtyard at school and flowered the cross.

Saturday, we went up to East Ridge to see the Easter Bunny and hunt for eggs. As you can see, the twins were very enthusiastic about meeting the bunny. Next year they might be terrified, so I guess I should be happy that they were not screaming.

On Sunday, we managed to get the whole family to church....ON TIME! That was no small feat.

Maisey happily wore her bonnet during the service, but when we got outside and I tried to get a picture, she wasn't so happy.

At Dearie's house, the Easter Bunny brought Malloy some wings and a tutu and hid eggs there as well.

Visit from Granny G

My grandmother came to visit last week on her way home from Arizona. I grew up calling her Grandma Gardner, but nowadays, she is known as Granny G around my house. I was so excited for her to meet her newest great-grandchildren. Gardner and Maisey are more "fun" lately. They are both smiling and cooing (and sleeping a little bit more at night!).

Easter Bunnies

Here are some pictures of my little bunnies playing together on the floor. They are really cute when they interact, but most of the time they seem oblivious to the fact that there is another little human playing right next to them. They are getting a little better at sleeping. The book I have been reading defines sleeping through the night as 7-8 consecutive hours of sleep. They have met that criteria, but unfortunately, they like to sleep from about 8 pm - 3 am. I would prefer if these 7 consecutive hours occured from 11 pm to 6 am. We'll get there eventually! I am just glad I didn't write any mean things about the babies when they were only sleeping for 2 1/2 to 3 hours at a time. Mommy was very sleep deprived! I asked Kyle to take a picture of me with the babies. I think the last picture I have with them is from the hospital. I must remember to get in some of the photos instead of always being the photographer!

Gardner

G-Man, Chubs, Floppy Head - These are a few of Gardner's nicknames. He is what I would call "the more demanding twin". When he is hungry, he wants to eat NOW, when he is uncomfortable, he lets you know it. He used to wake from a sound sleep with a blood curdling cry. I have since found out that he has "silent reflux". He doesn't spit up, but acid comes up his esophagus and causes pain. He is now on Prevacid and he sleeps on an incline. This has made him a much happier little guy. Gardner likes to take cat naps - preferably when someone is holding him. When there are no arms available, he will make do in the swing or the vibrating bouncy seat. He is getting better at falling asleep in his crib on his own. He likes to be swaddled and have his pacifier at all times. I am hoping he will find his thumb soon and can pop it in his mouth when he wants something to suck on. Gardner's nanny, Miss Rosemary, has definitely spoiled this little guy. I usually come home to find him sleeping in her arms. She has also been know to indulge him with a nice back massage. What a life for G-Man!

Maisey

Miss Maisey, Lazy Maisey, Maisey Maze - these are some of the names we call sweet little Maisey. She is a very easy going baby. She has earned the nickname "Lazy Maisey" by taking some great naps during the day. We are still working on sleeping through the night, but at least we're making progress. Maisey is generally a very happy little girl. She rarely fusses, and when she does, she usually has a good reason. When she gets tired, she just wants to go to bed, preferably in her crib. She doesn't want to be held excessively, doesn't need to be rocked to fall asleep, and generally will just doze off once she is wrapped up and placed in her bed. When she gets mad she has a pretty intense cry, but it is still nothing compared to Gardner's. Because she is so sweet natured she usually ends up waiting for us to tend to Gardner before we can feed her, change her, burp her, pick her up, or do whatever she needs. Thank goodness she is a patient little girl.
