Athens/Atlanta with the Kiddos

We took this kids to Georgia over Labor Day Weekend and lived to tell about it.  It was a long drive, but everyone did very well.  It was also VERY HOT.  The kids were introduced to the awesomeness of Athens, Georgia and the feeling of excitement on a Georgia football game day.  We headed downtown early Saturday morning and checked out North Campus and some shops.

The kids on the famous double barreled cannon.
Despite my warnings, the proceeded to stroll under the Arch repeatedly (Georgia superstition is that it will make you sterile if you pass under it before you graduate).
Gardner made himself right at home in the window of a store called "I Love Athens"
He quickly ditched is appliqued t-shirt that matched Maisey for a real football jersey.
Maisey was having fun learning what a tailgate is.  As we drove into town she squeeled "They're having a party!  And they're having a party! And they're having party too!"  Unfortunately, she also described all of the fans and their gear as "LSU stuff".  Living in Louisiana has really confused this child.
We waited for Uga to leave his hotel and head to the stadium.
We got to see him up close.
The kids tried on some jewelry from former Bulldog player KG.
Kyle showed Gardner and Maisey what the inside of Sanford Stadium looked like.  This was as close as they got - only Malloy and Kyle went to the game.  I headed back to the hotel with the twins.
They were not the least bit upset about missing out on the game because they got to hang out in a real firetruck that was parked by the stadium.

The Dawgs pulled out a win over Clemson.  I guess the fact that the kids rang the Chapel bell BEFORE the game didn't jinx them.

The next day, we headed to Atlanta and met with up with my college roommate, Hannah, and her three boys.  She lives in Knoxville, TN and has a 7 year old and 3 year old twins - just like me!  The kids went for a swim at the hotel pool.
Then we headed to Turner Field for a Braves baseball game.  Once again, it was HOT and the kids were tired.  They were able to muster up some energy to run the base in the kids area.

Malloy and Griffin made fast friends and were even seen holding hands as we walked around the stadium.
Before the game, we got to parade around on the field.

The Braves pulled off a victory thanks to a home run from Evan Gattis.
This is the best we could do with a group photo.  Gardner did not want to participate.
 Crazy, exhausted kids!
